Target Shooting can be practicing at a range or shooting club, or target shooting in the countryside. Target shooters might use clay pigeons, tin cans or paper targets. Target shooting is a great way to get started, and many who target practice on a regular basis are always willing to welcome newcomers and introduce them to the sport.
Our four primary safety guidelines always apply, and children regardless of skill level should always be supervised by an adult.
- Treat every firearm like it is loaded, even if you have checked and it is not loaded.
- Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction, never point your weapon at anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Know your target, know what it is and what is behind it and the capabilities of your firearm and ammo. Never fire a shot towards anything you don’t know what is behind it.
- Keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
